Anna Nissen

Speech-Language Pathologist

***Anna is currently offering teletherapy appointments primarily in English***

Anna Nissen is a Speech-Language Pathologist based in Montreal, Quebec. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from McGill University in 2017 and is a member of the ordre des orthophonistes, audiologistes et audiologistes du Québec (OOAQ) and Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC). Over her 9 years in the field, Anna has developed a passion and expertise in supporting individuals with fluency differences. She particularly enjoys working with children (ages 7 and up) and their family members, teenagers, and adults.

Anna brings a stutter-affirming approach to therapy, creating a welcoming, judgement-free environment where individuals and their loved ones can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences related to stuttering. She recognizes that stuttering is about much more than fluency and takes a holistic approach that considers its impact on relationships, school, work, participation, identity, confidence, and overall well-being. Her therapy approach focuses on self-advocacy, authentic communication, and meaningful participation in everyday life, guided by each person’s goals and values.

With extensive experience in the public sector and remote communities, Anna values collaboration, accessibility, and knowledge sharing. She is committed to helping individuals and families access educational resources and to support connection with community and public sector services that can complement individual sessions.

Anna regularly participates in advanced trainings in stuttering and cluttering and enjoys learning from and staying connected with the stuttering community through events such as the annual Canadian Stuttering Association conference. She has facilitated stuttering workshops for the West-Central Montreal CIUSSS and L’Association des jeunes bègues du Québec, in addition to hosting panel discussions with the Canadian Stuttering Association.

Outside of her clinical work, Anna is an artist and musician who enjoys spending time outdoors and with her cat, Boris.
